International Conference “Mathematical Ideas of Academician P.L. Chebyshev, Their Applications in Natural Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Technologies” dedicated to the 205th anniversary of his birth

Obninsk, May 14-16, 2026
Dear Colleagues!
May 14, 2026 marks the 205th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian mathematician Academician Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev, who was the founder of the St. Petersburg Mathematical School and a pioneer in a number of areas of theoretical mathematics and engineering sciences. His contribution to number theory, probability theory and mathematical statistics, approximation theory and optimization methods, which became the precursors of modern artificial intelligence technologies, is immeasurable. His work had a huge impact on the development of mechanical engineering. Pafnuty Lvovich’s ideas flourished most brightly in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Paying tribute to the greatness of the mathematician P.L. Chebyshev, the scientific community held an international conference in 2021 dedicated to his 200th anniversary in the city of Obninsk, not far from the birthplace and burial place of the outstanding scientist. In accordance with the decision of the Organizing Committee of this conference, an international conference is planned to be held in Obninsk from May 14 to May 16, 2026.
The conference will be held online or in a hybrid format with some participants attending in person and others working remotely.
